We hope everyone will support this amazing initiative to raise money for the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). Komar, the biggest manufacturer in the US of sleepwear and lingerie has created PJ’s For The Cure, with 100% of the sale of Women’s and Children’s pajamas go to the JDRF. We are so happy to be working with them in an effort to raise $1,000,000.00 for the JDRF. Being that November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, we thought we would encourage you all to take a moment and buy your Holiday gifts early! There are absolutely adorable pajamas for kids starting at size 2T and going up to size 12 as well as plenty of great styles for women which make great gifts for your moms, sisters and friends.
Purchasing is a snap and very fast—just go to www. and click on “Get the PJ’s!” at the top of the landing page. Women’s PJ’s are just $40 and the Children’s styles are just $25. All PJ’s also have FREE SHIPPING via UPS.
Additionally, my cousin Arthur has co-authored the book Breakthrough: Elizabeth Hughes, the Discovery of Insulin, and the Making of a Medical Miracle by Thea Cooper and Arthur Ainsberg. To buy the book (which also has a portion of proceeds going to the JDRF), please visit www.breakthroughthebook.com
Some background on Juvenile Diabetes:
Type 1 diabetes or Juvenile Diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables people to get energy from food. Type 1 diabetes usually strikes in childhood, adolescence, or young adulthood, but it lasts a lifetime. People with type 1 diabetes must take multiple injections of insulin daily or continually infuse insulin through a pump to survive.
· Nearly 24 million Americans have diabetes (7.8 percent of the population):
· Diagnosed: 17.9 million
· Undiagnosed: 5.7 million
· Each year more than 15,000 children are diagnosed with diabetes in the U.S. That’s 40 children per day.
· As many as 3 million Americans may have type 1 diabetes.
· In the U.S., a new case of diabetes is diagnosed every 30 seconds; more than 1.6 million people are diagnosed each year.

I can’t cook anything that requires more than two steps (poke holes, microwave), so that pretty much eliminates any sort of yuppie dinner parties I’ll be hosting. Not to mention, my idea of chic dinner decorating are the odds and ends at Urban Outfitters. If it’s cheap, I’ll buy it and if it breaks, I’ll probably work my way around it (sous-vide is not only for fancy schmancy chefs but also for people with broken microwaves).

But, alas I want and covet pretty things like anyone else so when I caught a glimpse at House Beautiful’s Kitchen of the Year, my heart wrenched and my mouth salivated at kate spade new york’s Casual Dinnerware.

This is House Beautiful magazine’s 3rd annual kitchen design event where a designer is invited to create a “dream kitchen” that is built right in the middle of Rockefeller Plaza!

This year’s featured designer is none other than Bravo’s Flipping Out star, Jeff Lewis.

If you’ve seen the show and witnessed Lewis’ perfectionist neuroses, it comes as no surprise that he would select such impeccable kate spade new york products—the clean lines, the chic stemware, the ever-so-gently rounded handles on the flatware, and not to mention the engraving!

Kate Spade Casual Dinnerware

kate spade Casual Detail!

Sure, I’ll probably just eat cereal in it to start off, but I have a sneaking suspicion that frosted flakes will taste a million times better if I’m spoon fed by kate spade new york. Who knows, maybe it’ll encourage me to cook…
