Nicola Formichetti Pop-Up Store

Starworks Group handled all press surrounding Nicola Formichetti’s temporary concept store with BOFFO Building Fashion and Gage/Clemenceau Architects, which opened during New York Fashion Week. During the two weeks Nicola’s was open, Starworks Group hosted four events including the store’s opening day and press preview, the launch party with Thierry Mugler Parfums, an Emerging Chinese Designers’ Exhibition and a press preview of UNIQLO’s new line UNIQLO Innovation Project (for which Formichetti is the Fashion Director).

As the Creative Director of Thierry Mugler, Fashion Director to Lady Gaga, the Haus of Gaga, Uniqlo and Vogue Japan, as well as contributor to V Magazine, Dazed & Confused and Another Magazine, Formichetti has created some of the most memorable imagery, performances, and moments in recent pop culture history.

Under Formichetti’s direction, the 1300 square foot space was transformed into a mirrored prism. The store housed a collection of limited edition pieces available to purchase such as Thierry Mugler menswear and womenswear, Nicola’s iPhone cases, jewelry, candles, t-shirts and exclusive designs by emerging international designers. Nicola’s also featured installations from Formichetti’s past and present creations and collaborations.

Old School Hollywood

In their September issue, Architectural Digest revisits the homes of infamous Hollywood couples. In many cases, the amazing homes the stars shared together far outlasted their brief relationships, but nonetheless provided a beautiful view. Here are some classic Hollywood couples photographed in their “happy homes.”

Arthur Miller and Marilyn Monroe

Audrey Hepburn and Mel Ferrer

Elvis and Priscilla Presley

Orson Welles and Rita Hayworth

Kitchen of the Year

I can’t cook anything that requires more than two steps (poke holes, microwave), so that pretty much eliminates any sort of yuppie dinner parties I’ll be hosting. Not to mention, my idea of chic dinner decorating are the odds and ends at Urban Outfitters. If it’s cheap, I’ll buy it and if it breaks, I’ll probably work my way around it (sous-vide is not only for fancy schmancy chefs but also for people with broken microwaves).

But, alas I want and covet pretty things like anyone else so when I caught a glimpse at House Beautiful’s Kitchen of the Year, my heart wrenched and my mouth salivated at kate spade new york’s Casual Dinnerware.

This is House Beautiful magazine’s 3rd annual kitchen design event where a designer is invited to create a “dream kitchen” that is built right in the middle of Rockefeller Plaza!

This year’s featured designer is none other than Bravo’s Flipping Out star, Jeff Lewis.

If you’ve seen the show and witnessed Lewis’ perfectionist neuroses, it comes as no surprise that he would select such impeccable kate spade new york products—the clean lines, the chic stemware, the ever-so-gently rounded handles on the flatware, and not to mention the engraving!

Sure, I’ll probably just eat cereal in it to start off, but I have a sneaking suspicion that frosted flakes will taste a million times better if I’m spoon fed by kate spade new york. Who knows, maybe it’ll encourage me to cook…

The Selby Hits New Homes

Last year, we wrote about The Selby website with all its cool interiors including moi. If you go back to the link, you’ll notice a ton of new postings photographed by Todd Selby, including our friends photographer Dan Martensen, and W Magazine’s Design Director, Edward Leida.

The website has more interesting creatives including top stylist Katie Young and the Brooklyn chocolate factory guys (responsible for those classic Mast bars). Todd Selby has finally released a coffeetable book of all his images and keeps accumulating his massive photo project which will probably result in a “time-capsule-like” exhibit of our times — with photos from NY, LA, London, and Paris. Rock on Todd.
