Starworks Group was out in force at this year’s Council of Fashion Designers of America awards last week at Lincoln Center. Not only were two clients nominated, Simon Spurr for Best Menswear Design and Alejandro Ingelmo for the Swarovski CFDA Award for Accessories, but the amazing events group assisted on the red carpet with many of the evening’s celebrity presenters. Other Starworks clients represented include Deborah Lloyd of kate spade new york.

Oftentimes the perils of PR mean finding yourself tucked behind and between photographers and video cameras, making your supposed behind-the-scenes more “out in front.” Here‘s me popping in and out of frame as Alejandro waits to be interviewed by New York Magazine…may we please discuss how amazing Doutzen Kroes looks in J Mendel?! Simon appears at the :21 second mark; my mug pops in at :52 seconds. Another fun spot is Starworks Group’s own Dafna DeBasc in this photo appearing on The New York Times website.

Sadly, Simon and Alejandro came up empty handed in their respective categories, but certainly the exposure from the event will last well after the envelope was opened. For a complete list of the evening’s winners, and to learn more about the CFDA, visit www.cfda.com.

Once in a while a film comes along that oozes cool. Somewhere, Sofia Coppola’s latest, is just that. I was lucky enough to catch a screening last night, and while I must admit the story itself was not ground-breaking, this film is special. The return-of-the-Dorff hype is well-deserved, as he somehow manages to get you to sympathize with his character, despite being a hard-partying, apathetic, and sleazy LA movie star whose home base is the Chateau Marmont. Not to mention he’s an estranged father to his 11-year-old, self sufficient daughter played by the lovely Elle Fanning. I was most impressed with Coppola’s patience and honesty telling this story – nothing felt rushed or oversimplified. The soundtrack by Thomas Mars was also a perfect compliment to the story. Maybe LA is cool, after all. Nah.

On August 29, hundreds of our favorite television stars and industry movers and shakers gathered in the heart of Los Angeles to pay homage to the past year in television. The awards show, in its 62nd year, brought our favorite stars out in droves, donned in our favorite designers, to support the television community.

Lisa Walker, Starworks Artists, Los Angeles
I have always had a love/hate relationship with the Emmys. I love television and I love the red carpet, but year after year I have been disappointed by the Emmys and its sad attempt to entertain me- does anyone remember when they had 5 reality show hosts actually host the Emmys? And, the show takes place in August! August? HELLO! August equals hot weather, no real designer clothing and most importantly the time of year when no one is watching television. The Emmy’s have always just done me wrong. Last year some momentum seemed to be happening, Neil Patrick Harris woke things up, the brilliant Bryan Cranston won for “Breaking Bad,” “Grey Gardens” brought in a little hollywood glamour, but still, nothing spectacular.

This year, the Emmys made television TV again. Jimmy Fallon took the show to a place where it did not take itself seriously. The Emmys were enjoyable for once, which is saying a lot as I usually cringe about ten minutes into the telecast! This year, the right actors walked off with the trophies. The speeches were heartfelt, Betty White was in true form, “Breaking Bad” got the accolades it deserves and Clooney was honored- all in all it was a perfect year. As for the red carpet, I think we all know who my favorites were.

Kyra Sedgwick, of The Closer, in Monique Lhuillier

Lyle Maltz, Events and Appearances, New York
Jimmy Fallon made my Emmy night. Period. The show’s opening number was totally EPIC and set the tone for a great, hilarious evening. I am still laughing out loud over the scene where Jon Hamm dances with the evening’s hands-down darling, Betty White. What a great energy to bring to a usually stilted broadcast!

On the red carpet, my favorites were Anna Paquin in McQueen (she looked so strong and sexy,) Kyra Sedgwick in Monique Lhuillier (loved the color,) Julianna Margulies in L’Wren Scott, January Jones in her electric blue Versace and cute Dianna Agron in Carolina Herrera. For the guys, CLOONEY of course, Cory Monteith and Jon Hamm in Armani and Neil Patrick Harris!

Michelle Scott, VIP, Los Angeles
First off, I thought Jimmy Fallon was hilarious! He definitely had mixed reviews going into the event, but I think he came out on top. He managed to be funny without making fun of anyone which is most comedians’ go-to. Impressive!

My favorite looks of the night were Kyra Segdwick in Monique Lhuillier (of course!), Jane Krakowski in Escada, Eva Longoria in Robert Rodriguez, Jayma Mays in Burberry Prorsum, Julia Ormond in Escada, Julie Bowen in J. Mendel, Olivia Munn in Zac Posen, Jennifer Carpenter in Oday Shakar (can’t wait for the new season of Dexter), Eva Amurri in Thiery Mugler (thanks to stylist and Starworks’ friend Brad Goreski), Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Narcisco Rodriguez, and Connie Britton in Burberry (love FNL). Can we just point out that Monique Lhuillier dresses winners?

Jayma Mays, of Glee, in Burberry Prorsum

Lauren Perinchief, VIP, Los Angeles
Rose Byrne in Gucci and Julie Bowen in J. Mendel were my favorites other than Kyra Sedgwick [in Monique Lhuillier!] obviously. I also loved January Jones’ messy hair!

Rose Byrne in Gucci

Marni Golden, Editorial, New York
I have to admit last night’s Emmys was the most entertaining awards show I’ve watched in a long while. This year’s theme? Comedy. Seems like the Emmys were finally able to laugh at themselves, and everyone was in on the joke. Ricky Gervais is the love of my life, and his Bucky Gunts presentation was beyond. Other jaw-dropping moment? An entire theater giving standing ovation to the real Dr. Jack Kevorkian. Gotta’ love Hollywood. Cheers!

Allison Oleskey, Partner, Los Angeles
Claire Danes said it best last night: Well thank you, HBO, for like, existing.

For me, the fashion was overshadowed by the winners this year. This was one of the first Emmy Awards show in recent years that I have loved virtually all of the winners! Edie Falco for Nurse Jackie, Aaron Paul for Breaking Bad, Jane Lynch and Glee, Mad Men and Modern Family. Bryan Cranston is the best actor on TV, period. Breaking Bad is the most original show on television, and both the acting and the writing have been long overdue for recognition. The AMC show doesn’t come back until July of 2011 so there’s plenty of time to catch-up.

It was also nice to see some a few issues addressed last night, from the real Temple Grandin and autism to the always eloquent George Clooney speaking about humanitarian initiatives.

I guess I will have to duke it out with Marni for Ricky Gervais. He is like, the best.

Temple Grandin and Claire Danes, who played Temple in the HBO original movie
