Unis is one those local menswear designers we all adore. Her business was begun in one of the sexiest prime real estate spots in Manhattan (corner of Elizabeth and Prince Street in Nolita). Anyway, while other classic designers (Mayle) and bars (Rialto) have closed down due to the gentrification, Unis has managed to survive 9 years. The range of men who are deep fans of the line include Mos Def, Jake Gyllenhall, and Spankrock. Her clothes is also still top quality after all these years, and all manufactured in The United States. Unis is a strong ally for “Save the Fashion District”, a movement aiming to keep designer labor from being outsourced to other countries.
This week she threw a birthday party by hosting a hip dinner with all her downtown friends. Here is a little video she cooked up for the occasion. A strong birthday shout-out from the Starworks family!
