After screening Michael Cera’s latest alterna-teen dark comedy Youth In Revolt, I realized how much I loved him. From Superbad to Juno to Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, he continues to play the same character – the awkward, mix-tape making, cardigan and vintage t shirt wearing, underdog.
In Paper Heart, his girlfriend Charlene Yi’s quasi documentary about love, out August 7th, Cera essentially plays Cera for the first time on screen. This sweet movie I screened and fell for in Sundance and will probably screen a second time in theaters because I just cant get enough!
Cera will next be seen in Scott Pilgrim vs The World, based on a graphic novel, and from the sound of it, its more of the Cera we know and love. He’s on his face to becoming this generation’s Woody Allen!
