The Business

A Note From the C.E.O.

Alright People…

As CEO of Starworks and permanant pusher of New Media, I thought it was about time I made a post and started to practice what I preach.

I have to say, that I find it truly exciting that the world is changing and changing at a rapid rate. I also think it’s wonderful that when I finally decided to blog, I can just pop into my own blog and make a post. That was unthinkable even 4 years ago… well, at least for me. I think we all remember the rather embarrasing shenanigans that Edelman PR had with Starbucks! Now however, times have changed… and its okay for me to do this.

I think what I enjoy most about the change is watching brands and people — who don’t get it — talking about how they really do get it…. by get it, I mean “what does social networking, online content, online marketing, viral campaigns, click to buy, e-commerce, twitter (or you’re a twit) really mean to them”?

The reality is, no one really knows what’s going to happen or how far the shift will go — the market needs to settle first. What we do know is that it changes all the time, and even when the dust does settle, the new world of brand communication will always be morphing and changing so much faster than anything else most people have been used to.

From my perspective, you must do what is right for you now. Understand your brand. Understand where you are from a technology standpoint. Find your voice online (you are gonna need it), and take a smart well informed approach to the web. You can get a lot online compared to print and outdoor, so spend a bit and think about what you are putting out there. It’s harder to hit online. The content has to be shit hot. The process of getting to your information needs to be easy for your consumer. If you get this right, you’re laughing.

So anyway, my diary is filling up. You need to get me quick. I charge by the hour… just kidding.

These are my thoughts…..

I enjoyed this….. more next week.
