Pro Surfer Danny Fuller premiered his photo collection The Lost World in NYC last night. It was a TOTAL friends & family gathering (along with top gallerists) — all who came to check out Danny’s first major body of work. The gallery and afterparty was a combination of hip folk, surf core community, and fashionistas. Also included were a mixed sweet range of spottings from Zoe Kravitz to Matt Dillon.

Danny’s girlfriend, Tori Praver rang me to come DJ the event. New York City is in full bloom since Spring is around the corner… so it’s always a treat to spin for a crowd that has been holed up all winter.

The good cheer and love in the room became a cathartic release for all the guests who were anticipating Danny’s first public show in New York. The event, which spanned a whole 6 to 10pm, began as a mellow cerebral art opening and gradually evolved into a major dance party throwdown.
But back to the work: Daniel Fuller’s The Lost World is a breathtaking series of moonscape shots from exotic locations around the world. Having professionally surfed the globe, Danny learned how to pick up a camera and capture long exposure images during his travels to precious beaches (I’m speaking of the type of photography that takes 1 entire evening to snap 1 “money shot”). Part of the proceeds of art sales go to the Surfers Healing Foundation who work with Autistic children. Altogether a worthy evening of art, booty-shaking, and a good cause.
The show will be on exhibit through Thursday, April 23rd.

Congrats on your first show, Daniel!

Great photos, I wish I knew what kind of camera and lens he used.
