… Once again, black tights ruled the day!

Since I somehow missed the email about getting a Thakoon outfit to wear to the show, I donned my black tie-dyed Thakoon for Target dress that I just so happened to have packed for NY… and what goes perfect with that? Ta duh! My black tights and bound-like Geisha footed ankle boots. Yes, the dynamic duo have made yet another appearance during fashion week, and they ain’t going anywhere.

And I’m sure I’ll get called out for it for it sooner or later. As I’m sure I’ll be called out for rocking the same jeans and with my other boots to every other show where I’m not wearing a dress… Call it lazy, practical, subdued… but I’ve found a way to go through the the week without too many major wardrobe changes. I don’t know, there’s something about being super glammed out that just doesn’t feel right.

There’s a different vibe going on this show season and I don’t think that it’s a bad thing. The mood is reflective of what’s going on in the country right now. In-your-face opulence and over-the-topness be damned, especially when people are losing everything during this disastrous economic storm.

But no need to scorn all things fashion either. To do so would be to turn our backs on the thousands of people who are employed by the fashion industry, from the design houses, to the magazines, the photographers, to retail.

That all said, there’s nothing wrong with a lil modesty these days or any day for that matter. Which brings me back to my Target dress, the perfect blend of hi/lo. Thakoon’s collection for Target was one of my favorite designer collabo’s with the store. Though I’ve been a fan of most of the collabo’s, Thakoon’s stood out among them all.

To me, every piece was pitch perfect: the patterns, the cut, the colors– everything looked rich. So when I missed the window to get a dress for the show, I had the next best thing… and it looked great with black tights.
